Why can't things just be simple? I finally bought a new camera last night. It took me a little over an hour. When I bought my first camera, I just went in and picked up the cheapest one I could find and it worked great. Now it's crazy. Do you want zoom? Digital or optical? How many megapixels? How much built-in memory does it have? Or do I need a memory card? Am I paying $50 more for a higher quality or just a sleek design? What's the resolution? Does it have that spiffy screen on the back? Kill me, please. I don't know how much memory or megapixels I want, and I don't give a damn about zoom, I just want a camera. Why is everything so complicated?
It's even worse with phones. There are a million different phones out there. Oddly enough, a lot of them aren't different at all. I think the whole point of a cell phone is to see how much crap you can cram into it. Every new phone is exactly like the last. The only difference is that it has one new little gadget that the last one didn't have. As long as you can think of something new to put on a phone, you can make the next big thing. Just copy the current style and find a good spot to stick it. What happens when there isn't anything left to put on? Will people stop buying phones because there's no cool new little gadget to buy? The whole economy will spiral out of control! People will go crazy trying to add anything they can get their hands on. In an effort to try something new, someone will try to fuse a cell phone to their head. The ultimate hands-free phone! Then they'll get struck by lightening in an electrical storm. The waves will fry their brain and they'll go crazy, causing them to go fusing phones to helpless bystanders in the streets, and start controling them, creating an army of cell phone-headed zombies to do their bidding. Absolute pandemonium will surely ensue...
I exagerate. But still, you should get my drift. I seriously can't get why people feel the need to cram their life into their back pocket.
On one final note, I would like to say that slide phones disgust me. I remember flip phones. Everyone wanted one, and everyone kept making them. No one could think of anything original. Then slide phones came along. Cool. Something new. Then everyone started making them. And for a while it was cool, because someone added a camera to one, then an mp3 player. Now you can't find a slide phone that doesn’t have a camera or an mp3 player. And so, I introduce to you the MOTORIZR Z8:

Apparently the next big thing in the marvelous little cookie-cutter world of cellular phones. Just another boring little slide phone that everyone's going to want for whatever new little gadget they managed to put on it.
[link]
