What is the deal with this song?
Discover Silversun Pickups!
Seriously. I've been hearing it everywhere. First in was on Reaper a few weeks ago. Then it was on some car commercial. Then it was playing in FYE. And now it's in a baseball commercial. I haven't heard it in forever, and now it's all BAM! in my face everywhere.

i miss all the good stuff
Oh. My. God. Ohmygodohmygodohmygod!!!
So, I was randomly searching around, and found the Taste of Chaos site. I completely forgot it even existed. Not like I'd ever get to go anyway. So I looked at the bands playing. Do you know who all is playing? Avenged Sevenfold, D'espairsRay, Atreyu, Bullet for my Valentine, and a bunch of other bands that don't really matter. But, DUDE! I totally missed it. As usual.
Yeah, I already updated today. But I couldn't keep my fangirly joys to myself. Or woes. Whatever.

my words but a whisper your deafness a SHOUT
I am not a Jethro Tull fan in the farthest stretches of the word. But, I was listening to a classic rock station online, because yeah, radios, when Thick as a Brick came on. Horrible song. Amazing lyrics. Someone should make a hard rock/metal cover of this song.
And if someone already has, you'd share, right?

malleus maleficarum: revealed!
Remember way, way, WAY back at this post where I kept saying the name Malleus Maleficarum sounded familiar? I'm an idiot. A true, honest to god idiot who can't even remember the names of her FAVORITE BAND'S songs. Check it out.
Yes, it actually took me that long to figure it out. And the sad thing is, it's on my favorite CD. I listen to the song all the time, and never knew the name. How pathetic can one person be?

in search of a cute necklace
Suze put up new pictures on Myspace, so I went to check them out. She was wearing the most adorable necklace ever. I want it. I want it, I want it, I want it. *pouts* Anyway, she told me where to find it so I could look longingly at it whenever I want, and ultimately decend into a downward spiral of depression over the fact that I don't own a credit card.
Okay, I'm exagerating. It's not that cute.
So after looking longingly for a while at the necklace I can't buy, I started looking around at some of the other stuff on the website. They have this spiffy little boombox thing. You can find it pretty much anywhere you go on the site, it's a little boombox with colorful music notes coming out of it. Click on it. It's pretty awesome. It comes up in a pop-up window, and they have lots of different music on it. Most of it doesn't exactly compliment my personal music taste, but I love it anyway. It's one of those things you listen to when you need your fix of obscurity. Unless obscurity is your thing, then this is right up your alley. I like Sammy Joe & Joe Sam's playlist. I like having the random stuff every once in a while, but I really like being able to recognize what I'm listening to.
PS: Everyone has to check out Shoes by Kelly, on Chris's list.

intuitive, maybe. brilliant? hardly.
Nine Inch Nails has a new CD coming out. I’m not really sure how far behind I am with it. I like NIN and everything, but I wasn’t all excited about a new CD, ever since With Teeth. I was so excited about that CD after the singles, but when it actually came out, it wasn’t nearly as good as I was expecting. Now there’s a new one, Year Zero, and I’m torn between being excited about it and not wanting to get my hopes up. There are some leaks that sound pretty promising, though. I might get more excited about it as it gets closer to coming out.
Also, I’m a huge fan of Shy Boys Win. I check it just about every day. Jade Puget’s blog, if you have no idea what I’m talking about. His latest post says “Does NIN's online mystery seem familiar?” Well, like I said, I haven’t been keeping too close of tabs on NIN. So, I was curious and had to find out what was going on. A really quick Google search, and I found this. It’s a little bit funny. Not in a hahaha, sort of way, but more of a ha. Ha. Ha. Sort of way. I think this is one of those things that are only interesting the first time around. Now that it's already been done, it's just annoying when people try to copy it. I'm sure anyone who's not an AFI fan will find it absolutely fascinating. But, yeah... I’ve seen it. It was really cool when AFI started doing it years ago. It makes you feel like you’re part of the whole process or something, you know. Plus it gave me something to focus on while AFI took their merry good time with the CD. But Find an original gimmick, yeah? This one's been taken. I get it, though. I mean, AFI’s puzzle thingy was huge. MTV picked up on it. And sadly, the popularity of anything can pretty much be gauged by whether MTV picks up on it these days. So if somebody finds a way to get people interacting with the CD and get them interested, of course people are going to copy it.
Still, if he must try to copy it, can't he do it right? At least try to make it interesting. AFI made all the freaky videos and weird little interactive elements, like the buttons and the comic shop thing. They made it interesting. NIN just put out a bunch of sites about some fictional drug. Poorly done sites, might I add. Somebody commented on the NIN forum, “Trent is a brilliant, brilliant man for not only making an album, but creating a whole world to go with the concept.” Grrr. Just… Grrr.

who doesn't like new music? that's what i thought.
Just a quick update here because I’m tired and I swear my bed is a master hypnotist. But I wanted to share my happiness with you. And some more music. All my favorite bands seem to be making new CDs. I just found a leak of Anberlin’s new CD, Cities. I personally think it’s the best thing they’ve done so far. Reclusion just might be my new favorite song. It’s pretty awesome, maybe better than Bayside’s new CD. Speaking of Bayside, they’re on tour with Anberlin. This depresses me. Two of my favorite bands on tour together. And I’m broke. No concerts for me. *sobs* Okay, enough emoing. Here's some music for you:
Anberlin - Cities.zip
Bayside – The Walking Wounded.zip I was planning on posting this yesterday, but I forgot.
Oh, and I just made a really odd observation tonight. The night campus security guy looks strangely like Jerry Stiller. I’ve never noticed this because he’s always sitting in his car in the Cave parking lot when I come by. And I don’t feel like being that creepy kid that stares at people when they’re sitting in their cars minding their own business. That, and I didn’t really care what he looked like.
That quick post was a lot less quick than I was originally planning on.

the day fall out boy made some semi-decent music
So, I bought the new Bayside CD, The Walking Wounded. I liked it. Not as much as Sirens and Condolences, but I liked it. Their sound changed a bit, which is a good thing. I’m not complaining about the change in the sound. I think bands need to change so they don’t keep doing the same thing over and over again. The change in the new CD isn’t all that huge, but it’s there. The one thing I’m not too happy about it the lyrics. They’re not nearly as expressive in their new CD. One of the things I love, love, love about Bayside is the really strong images they conjure up with their lyrics. It’s like they just come out of nowhere and punch you in the stomach or something. It’s like wow; You aren’t expecting that, you can almost feel what they’re feeling from the images. They don’t do it as much on The Walking Wounded. It isn’t quite as powerful. But it’s still an awesome CD, and you should buy it.
I also listened to Infinity on High by Fall Out Boy. Now, don’t everybody panic and trample people to death running to the nearest exit, but I actually liked it.
Okay. Go ahead and panic.
Now that you’ve had a well-deserved panic, I should explain how this strange turn of events came to be. A couple days ago someone sent me this video. I was hesitant to watch it at first, because I pretty much loathe Fall Out Boy. But I love Happy Tree Friends, so I figured I could live through the horrible music to watch cute cuddly little critters getting mutilated. Well, the music wasn’t too bad, surprisingly. So yesterday I was listening to the AOL radio, and that arms race song came on. I was all dancing along to it, working on Photoshop, and I think “Hmm… catchy little song. I wonder what it is.” So, I check. I think I felt the world crumble a little when I found out it was yet another FOB song I liked. But I was a little intrigued that I could possibly find two songs by them I like. So, I figured I would take a chance and download it. If it was horrible, I could just delete it and burn the memory of ever listening to it out of my mind. If by some miracle it was good, I can be big enough to admit that FOB isn’t the worst band in the world and go out and buy the CD.
And that’s how we’ve arrived to where we are now. I wouldn’t exactly recommend the CD to anyone, but that’s just my personal opinion. It’s really not a bad CD. Just not anything groundbreaking. Then again, this coming from someone who would use a copy of From Under the Cork Tree as a shiny new Frisbee before I’d be caught dead with it in my CD player, I could be slightly bias. It might be better than I think. I’ll leave this one for you to decide, bunnies.

the alkaline trio - remains
The Alkaline Trio made a new CD. I haven’t been spending nearly as much time searching for music as I used to, so I was completely unaware of it until I walked into the store and there it was. I love music, but lately the whole keeping up to date thing has just felt boring. Plus, now when I walk into a music store and find one of my favorite bands has made a new CD, I get to be all excited! It’s much cooler to find out a good band has already made a new album than to find out they’re releasing one in a month. Or two years *coughAFIcough*. I’ve realized that knowing ahead of time really takes a lot of the enjoyment out of finding the new CD.
Since I’m such an awesome person, I thought I would share it with you. It isn’t extraordinarily different from Crimson, but there’s definitely been some change in their sound. You’ll love it if you’re an Alkaline Trio fan.
