Nine Inch Nails has a new CD coming out. I’m not really sure how far behind I am with it. I like NIN and everything, but I wasn’t all excited about a new CD, ever since With Teeth. I was so excited about that CD after the singles, but when it actually came out, it wasn’t nearly as good as I was expecting. Now there’s a new one, Year Zero, and I’m torn between being excited about it and not wanting to get my hopes up. There are some leaks that sound pretty promising, though. I might get more excited about it as it gets closer to coming out.
Also, I’m a huge fan of Shy Boys Win. I check it just about every day. Jade Puget’s blog, if you have no idea what I’m talking about. His latest post says “Does NIN's online mystery seem familiar?” Well, like I said, I haven’t been keeping too close of tabs on NIN. So, I was curious and had to find out what was going on. A really quick Google search, and I found this. It’s a little bit funny. Not in a hahaha, sort of way, but more of a ha. Ha. Ha. Sort of way. I think this is one of those things that are only interesting the first time around. Now that it's already been done, it's just annoying when people try to copy it. I'm sure anyone who's not an AFI fan will find it absolutely fascinating. But, yeah... I’ve seen it. It was really cool when AFI started doing it years ago. It makes you feel like you’re part of the whole process or something, you know. Plus it gave me something to focus on while AFI took their merry good time with the CD. But Find an original gimmick, yeah? This one's been taken. I get it, though. I mean, AFI’s puzzle thingy was huge. MTV picked up on it. And sadly, the popularity of anything can pretty much be gauged by whether MTV picks up on it these days. So if somebody finds a way to get people interacting with the CD and get them interested, of course people are going to copy it.
Still, if he must try to copy it, can't he do it right? At least try to make it interesting. AFI made all the freaky videos and weird little interactive elements, like the buttons and the comic shop thing. They made it interesting. NIN just put out a bunch of sites about some fictional drug. Poorly done sites, might I add. Somebody commented on the NIN forum, “Trent is a brilliant, brilliant man for not only making an album, but creating a whole world to go with the concept.” Grrr. Just… Grrr.
Music:
NIN - In This Twilight.mp3
NIN - Me, I'm Not.mp3
NIN - My Violent Heart.mp3
NIN - The Beginning of the End.mp3
NIN-Survivalism.mp3

Just a quick update here because I’m tired and I swear my bed is a master hypnotist. But I wanted to share my happiness with you. And some more music. All my favorite bands seem to be making new CDs. I just found a leak of Anberlin’s new CD, Cities. I personally think it’s the best thing they’ve done so far. Reclusion just might be my new favorite song. It’s pretty awesome, maybe better than Bayside’s new CD. Speaking of Bayside, they’re on tour with Anberlin. This depresses me. Two of my favorite bands on tour together. And I’m broke. No concerts for me. *sobs* Okay, enough emoing. Here's some music for you:
Anberlin - Cities.zip
Bayside – The Walking Wounded.zip I was planning on posting this yesterday, but I forgot.
Oh, and I just made a really odd observation tonight. The night campus security guy looks strangely like Jerry Stiller. I’ve never noticed this because he’s always sitting in his car in the Cave parking lot when I come by. And I don’t feel like being that creepy kid that stares at people when they’re sitting in their cars minding their own business. That, and I didn’t really care what he looked like.
That quick post was a lot less quick than I was originally planning on.

The Alkaline Trio made a new CD. I haven’t been spending nearly as much time searching for music as I used to, so I was completely unaware of it until I walked into the store and there it was. I love music, but lately the whole keeping up to date thing has just felt boring. Plus, now when I walk into a music store and find one of my favorite bands has made a new CD, I get to be all excited! It’s much cooler to find out a good band has already made a new album than to find out they’re releasing one in a month. Or two years *coughAFIcough*. I’ve realized that knowing ahead of time really takes a lot of the enjoyment out of finding the new CD.
Since I’m such an awesome person, I thought I would share it with you. It isn’t extraordinarily different from Crimson, but there’s definitely been some change in their sound. You’ll love it if you’re an Alkaline Trio fan.
[Download]

In all the rage of missing the Rockstar elimination, I completely forgot to post music in my last post. And since I just got Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Don't You Fake It, I figured I would put that here for you now.
I just discovered RJA about a week ago, probably the same way a majority of people found out about them. I saw the video for "Face Down" on Fuse and thought it was a pretty cool song. And as is my custom, I had to check them out to see if any of their other music is any good.
I can't say they're really groundbreaking. But they're definitely a good listen. If you're one of those "Oh my god, not another emo band" people, they probably aren't for you. They sound like a lot of the current "popular emo" bands out there. But if you're into bands like 30 Seconds From Mars or The Academy Is, you'll probably like RJA too.
I do have to say that while they do have that similar kind of emo sound to them, it's not all the same. There is definitely diversity in the album. "Your Guardian Angel" is a really soft, beautiful track. While "Face Down" is more of the emo sound.
And the lyrics aren't the regular doom and gloom, fill your head with vague images of woe is me nothings you hear a lot of lately, either. They have a lot of important messages that people can really relate to.
I still stick to my guns and say they're not the greatest thing since silly string, but you should at least check them out.
Download
And this just because: The Alkaline Trio - Good Mourning (album)
Download
