I was on Livejournal the other day, and I was just scanning through the spotlight communities like I do every time they change them. There is usually at least one there that is remotely interesting. This time they had a community called 50 Book Challenge. I’ll be honest; I haven’t finished a book in a little over a year. I usually start them, and then I’ll just put it aside until I eventually forget all about it. But the thing is, I would really like to try to read more than comic books and fanfiction. And since the new year just started, I figured what the hell? Why not give it a shot? I already got a bit of a start since I just finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Although, fifty might be a wee (by wee I mean extraordinarily huge) bit too high of an expectation for me, seeing how I don’t read books often. But I’m definitely going to give it a shot. I think 25 books would be a pretty good accomplishment for me.
Here’s my list so far of what I would like to get read this year:
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
The Porcelain Dove by Delia Sherman
Snow Garden by Christopher Rice
The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman
The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman
The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman
Eragon by Christopher Paolini
Yeah, it’s an itsy bitsy, insignificant list so far. And yes, I plan on making it longer. These are just the books that I’ve been meaning to read but have never got around to reading. If you can’t tell, I love fantasy. So any fantasy recommendations would be super! Anything else is cool too.
